Spring Layering

It's Spring! It has well and truly thawed up here in the North, and I decided to celebrate a few weeks ago with planning some Spring looks. I must admit, most of my looks at the moment are still airing on the side of caution and staying wrapped up, but when the sun does appear I wanted to be ready. I thought I'd show you an outfit I wore out for a day out which incorporated some essential layers!

I bought this H&M shirt/dress whilst in London in January. As you all know my love for stripes, it won't surprise you that I was bowled over by it. I intended to wear it as a dress, but this happy accident came whilst I was trying on some new jeans and discovered that it looks quite good layered as a shirt. I also thought It was mix up the 70s flare vibe, and make it a bit more modern. I wore a plain white tee underneath and undid the shirt when it was warmer.

The flares have become my 'go to' night time jeans. I always feel so glam when a wear them, and they are really easy to pair with tops and shoes.

I finished the look with my staple H&M bag (see almost every other post) but tucked the strap in to use it as a clutch. I just love functional pieces!

Hope you guys are enjoying the sun, I am making the most of it! See you soon!

Beauty Event at Harvey Nichols

"The minimalist look? Pah! We say, the more the merrier. In life, and in lipsticks, so join us at our Spring event this Thursday"

With an invite like that, how could I say no to attending the Spring beauty event at Manchester's Harvey Nichols on Thursday night. As soon as I walked through the door, the fabulous ambience hits you, and I was transformed from day time blogger to big time celebrity (in my mind anyway). I made my way up to the second floor Brasserie, which has stunning views of Manchester from the floor to ceiling windows, there I was greeted with pink champagne.

I felt like a kid in a candy shop when I noticed the 5 tables filled with beauty products, testers and trials. Instinctively, I made my way over to the Espa table, which is a fabulous beauty brand based on the ground floor at Harvey Nics. There, I was treated to a wonderful hand and arm massage with the divine smelling products. I'm new to Espa, and loved finding out about their range and services. They have to most beautiful essential bath and body oils designed for a range of needs. My favourite was the clove infused 'restoration' bath oil. I was then given a voucher for a complimentary facial at their spa, also based in Harvey Nichols. I cannot wait to try it go, I will let you know how it is.

I then moved over to the Bare Minerals stand. I already use a lot of Bare Minerals products, so didn't need much convincing when it came to trying their brand new tinted gel foundation. As with most of the Bare Minerals products, the gel actively helps nourish and moisturise your skin whilst you wear it. It had a beautiful texture, very cooling and indulgent. I'm no beauty blogger, but I will try and get a review up when I get my free taster next week.

I didn't get the chance to have my hair done, but a lovely guy from Umberto Giannini was there transforming hair from drab to fab, and giving us the latest advice and info on hair products.

The girls from the nail bar were also there giving mini manicures, which looked fab (damn my acrylics!).

Overall it was a lovely evening spent in beautiful surroundings. I was well and truly pampered and cannot wait to go back next week to get some of the free goodies I was gifted. I'd definitely recommend a trip to the Harvey Nichols beauty department, it's truly a great place to get some advice and inspiration this Spring.

Floral Stripes

Me again! Ok so everyone who follows my blog will know I have a slight stripe obsession. The fact that they were all over the SS15 catwalks, has just made it 10 times worse and I now dream in stripes! This beauty is not my usual style. I have always found midi dresses to be quite unflattering with my figure. They normally make me look a bit, well, dumpy. But I decided to go for this and add heels. Well, as usual heels have solved the problem. It was love at first sight, and I have worn it 4 times in the past month (that's a lot for me!).

The magic heels are from F&F at tesco. They were £12 in the sale. I'm sorry, I know I always wear things that are out of stock or really old, but I can't live without them. I will link you to some Public Desire Copies as an apology. I have had so many comments about them, and a lot of OMGs when I tell people the are from Tesco. I'm a big shopper or F&F. They have to be my favourite supermarket brand. Check out their website, as I always find more online!

Annnd another one. Sorry guys, this Primark babe was £8 in the sale. But to be fair, it's very Springtimey so I couldn't really have worn it before. They have lots of similar ones in now, so definitely get yourself down there!

I love the combo of stripes and florals, would you mix up the prints??

I have another busy blogger week, but will be back with a new look soon. I'm on IG at fashion_panic if you want to keep up with daily inspo.

Mustard Lace

Bonjour, Guten Tag and Hello! As some of you may know, I've just got back to the UK from a little tour of Europe. I'm feeling very cultured and have definitely caught the travelling bug. I feel the French may have found me a little annoying, as I refused to stop my attempts at speaking their beautiful language, I fear I may have butchered it! I'm still deliberating whether or not to write a little travel post...I don't know if people would be interested, especially as this is a fashion blog!

Anywho, to update you guys, I've decided to upload two looks at once. I posted both of these outfits, over the last few weeks, so finally here they are!

The first, is my new dream dress. I have to apologise for the pictures. It was earlyish in the morning and the light was awful! It was sunny, but dull. I definitely need to take photography lessons!

I bought this from Marks and Spencers when they had 20% off everything. I'd spotted it last month, but I couldn't afford it, so as per usual, I saw it as a sign and bought it there and then. It's so beautiful. It looks like I've spent hours rummaging through vintage stores and found a gem. Everything about it oozes 70s glamour, although it is very understated. I'm not normally a mustard person, but it added to the vintage vibes, and it's actually one of my fave colours for this season. I cannot wait to wear it with my gladiator sandals and mix it up a bit!

I paired it with my gorgeous Leather Satchel Company satchel, and finished the look with my new Zara pointy boots.

I hope you guys have all had a great Easter, I'm still having chocolate for breakfast...may need to stop before it's bikini season!

Stay tuned for look number two,

Lauren XO
